dc.description.abstractThe aim of this study is to examine the level of water service delivery at Morogoro Urban. Specific objectives were: to asses status of water service availability at household level; to find out techniques used for water service delivery; to examine the consequence water service availability at household level and to find out challenges facing delivery of water service A sample of 200 respondents was used. Primary data were collected by using questionnaires and in-depth interview whereas secondary data were collected by using documentary analysis. Data were presented by using Tables and Figures. SPSS was used to analyze the collected data. The study found that, majority of the respondents (51.2%) was satisfied with water supply while 48.8% were not satisfied with water service. Also, the study found that 133 households where connected with tap water which is equivalent to 66.5% while 67 households that are 33.5% are not connected with tap water. Moreover, the study found that, there are different techniques used for water service delivery, majority of the respondents (59.1%) identified state agency as a provider of water services. The study found that, significant number of the respondents (47.2%) suggested that, poor infrastructure is a major challenges facing delivery of water service. The study concludes that, most of the households are satisfied with water services despite of the availability of service problems. There are various challenges hinder water supply, among factors that have hindered water provision include poor and old infrastructures, climate change, and destruction of environment, financial problem and non-renewable water sources. The study recommendations include: educating people on proper preservation of water resources and how to share the resource equally among members within their households; the government needs to invest in proper water infrastructures and water purification. The government also needs to subsidize water and make water affordable for the poor.
