dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this study was to find out the effectiveness of the use of Information Technology and Employee Performance in the fingerprint unit of, the Tanzania police force, three research questions were formed to meet the objectives which are; what is the employee capacity to use IT facilities, what is the relationship between IT adaption and employee performance? And what is the relationship between IT adaption and employee innovation? To answer those three research questions the researcher used interviews and questionnaires with 23 respondents employees from the forensic unit and 20 employees from Information Technology both from the Tanzania police force who made a total of 43 respondents. The study found that the performance before the IT adoption was low; with all the work needed to be done using hands by writing, communicating, and measuring. The study concludes that there is good employee capacity for using IT facilities, there is a relationship between employee adoption and employee performance and there is a relationship between IT adoption and employee innovation. The study recommends that the Government should provide enough funds needed by its organizations to fulfill their IT requirements and policymakers should formulate laws and orders that will create a favorable environment that requires government institution to use IT facilities to increase employee performance through clear formulated policies that will increase creativity and innovation
