The study looked on four major processes of risk management that is identification of factors that favour the occurrence of risk in the pension business settings, identification of key methods used to manage the risk faced by pension funds and to determine the effectiveness of risk control methods on investment decision making. The research activity used the case study design because the research was conducted for the purpose of acquiring data in detail about the topic on question. The research study used both secondary and primary data. Methods of data collection included questionnaires, interviews and observation. The data analysis method employed for the research is descriptive in nature. The findings discussed and explained on the factors that four occurrence in pension funds business setting, key methods used to address the risks favour risk occurrence in pension funds and the effectiveness of risk controls on the investment decision making. The study recommends that further research for comparative purposes for enhancing collective efforts, determination of controls and their applicability and the policies guiding the investment in pension Funds to improve performance of pension funds in Tanzania.
