Abstract:
This report is based on unlicensed slaughtering of animals and undiagnosed meat: the law and practice. It is an expectation to the people that once a problem occurs must be dissolved speedy to make the society safe. The issue of unlicensed slaughtering of animals, results the society to experience the problem of increasing a number of people who infected by diseases through consuming undiagnosed meat. This is practiced in the societies, because such societies are not aware about the effect brought thereon by consuming such food, and the authority concerning slaughtering of animals for the human consumption does not make effort to ensure that the laws are strictly followed so as to make the human health safe. The objective of this study is to examine the position of the law and practice in Tanzania in relation to the unlicensed slaughtering of animals and undiagnosed meat while assessing the health problems brought thereon. The specific objective is to examine the effectiveness of the law dealing with the problem of unlicensed slaughtering of animals and undiagnosed meat, also to assess the position of the community regarding slaughtering and consumption of undiagnosed meat. The research methodology of this study is covered by the following; research design, area of the study, sample size, sampling techniques, methods of data collection that deployed both primary and secondary to review relevant source of materials. Observation was used in order to obtain data direct from the area of study; also structure interview was used for getting depth-information.
The study came with the finding that, the government should ensure protection of the life of the people by making procedures which can ensure all people are not consuming unfit meat even if it is for domestic use. The recommendation of the study is that, the laws govern the study should be more practical rather than theoretical; the law should be in Swahili version, creation of awareness in the society and introduction of public campaign. Generally, this research report involves five chapters, where by chapter one covers general introduction of research problem, chapter two deals with conceptual framework of the study, chapter three with legal framework; thereinafter under chapter four involves data analysis, presentation and interpretation. Finally, chapter five involves summary, conclusion and recommendation of the study
